1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS

This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS was modified and fully restored in its current RestoMod conditions by Austin City Hot Rods in Austin, Tx. The work was a complete frame off restoration and consisted of a full paint job inside and out in a 1968 Corvette white with Mercedes Benz Iridium Silver Stripes, Custom metal work all over the car with hidden fender joints, shaved bumper bolts and built in reverse lights on the rear bumper. The seats were dropped and a clean firewall with AC hoses hidden under the inner fenders and windshield wiper motor behind the firewall. A custom built console and full interior was custom made with TMI deluxe interior used as a template.

The car is powered by a 383 Smeding Performance Motor with EFI tech fuel rail pushing 480hp 470 FT-lbs of torque. A SBC hi-torque mini starter, power master 170 alternator, Optima Battery in the trunk. There is a custom built exhaust and Vintage air AC. With this much power we went with a full Detroit speed subframe and front suspension with adjustable coil overs and rack and pinion steering. We also added Detroit Speed mini tub kit with adjustable leaf springs giving it that perfect ride height. Gas tank is also a Detroit speed stainless gas tank.

The engine is mated to a Tremec Magnum 6 speed manual transmission, johns rear end geared 3:73. Brakes are Wilwood Superlite 6R big brakes on all 4 wheels. The wheels are Custom MHT ordered to size 18inch painted white to match the car with front tires 245/35R18 MI Pilot and rear 315/30R18 MI Pilots.

On the interior we went with a retro bluetooth stereo system and kicker speakers all around with amp. 3 point seat belts were added, power windows with switches on center console and power door locks with key fob and trunk pop for easy access. The steering wheel is a nostalgic looking wood grain walnut with IDIDIT tilt column. All exterior parts such as door handles and mirrors were powder coated.

This car is always a show stopper and wins awards every time it goes to a show. This front grille hide away headlights are hooked up on electric and HID LED headlights were added with LED rear brake and blinker lights super bright. There was no expense spared on this build and over $200k was spent on this Camaro with only 2803 miles sense built. Car is located in Austin, Tx
